Honey, Mustard, Soy and Sesame Chicken

The name says it all. Can be used as described as a canapé or cut larger and server as chicken strips dinner.

  • 60g runny honey
  • 1 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 60ml (2.5oz) light soy sauce
  • 200g (7oz) skinless chicken breast, cut into slivers
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted (optional)


  1. Place the honey, mustard and soy sauce into a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the strips of chicken to the sauce and mix well to ensure they are all well covered in the marinade.
  3. Cover and leave in the fridge to marinate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 °F (No temperature included in book. This seems to work close on cook time)
  5. Soak some bamboo skewers in a little cold water to help stop them burning in the oven (or use metal ones), then thread the chicken pieces onto the sticks.
  6. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper, arrange the chicken skewers on the tray and bake in the center of the oven for 12-15 minutes, checking the chicken is cooked through and the juices are running clear.
  7. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, if you like, then serve immediately.
